A major political storm has hit Rivers State as all political office holders appointed by suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara have been axed in a sweeping purge led by the state’s new administrator, Vice-Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd).
The was contained in a statement titled: ‘The Rivers State Government announces the suspension of political office holders and appointees in Rivers State’.
The statement that emanated from the official mailing box of the Rivers Government was signed by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator.
In a shocking announcement, the Rivers State Government declared the immediate suspension of top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff, commissioners, special advisers, and heads of various agencies, parastatals, and institutions.
The bold move, executed under the authority granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marks a significant power shift in the state’s leadership.
The affected officials have been ordered to hand over to the most senior permanent secretaries or administrative heads in their ministries and departments.
