Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington recently voiced his frustration over a noisy rooster that reportedly kept him awake during a stay in Owerri.
Sharing his experience online, he described being accommodated in a room at the back of a property while attending an event in the city. From his window, he could see fish ponds, which he noted, but emphasized that his real concern was the early-morning crowing of a male chicken.
“I went to Owerri for an event, and my host lodged me in a room at the backyard. From the window, I can see fish ponds everywhere, but that’s not even my issue. My problem is this male chicken that has been crowing since 3 a.m., disturbing my sleep,” he explained.
Speed Darlington also humorously offered a reward to anyone who could help deal with the noisy bird. “I’m ready to pay ₦20k to anyone who can handle that particular chicken,” he added.
His unusual complaint quickly caught the attention of social media users, sparking discussions about the challenges of urban living and how traditional surroundings can sometimes clash with modern comfort expectations. Similar concerns about noise disturbances from animals in residential areas had been highlighted online back in 2022.
