Nigerian striker, Akor Adams has expressed his disappointment as Sevilla FC slipped deeper into trouble with a 1-0 loss to Real Oviedo in La Liga on Sunday.

The defeat at the Estadio Municipal Carlos Tartiere leaves Sevilla winless in five matches and hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th place. Their task was made harder when Tanguy Nianzou was sent off seven minutes before half-time.

Akor Adams did not hide his disappointment after the final whistle.

He said, “The result was a shame. It wasn’t what we had prepared with the new manager, and we have to reset and forget this result as soon as possible.

“We didn’t lose because of the referees, but we had several incidents that went against us. For example, Djibril Sow nearly broke his leg.”

Sevilla now turn their attention to a daunting clash with Atlético Madrid as they fight to steady their season.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho played the hero as Celtic FC defeated Dundee FC 2-1 at Dens Park to move within three points of the league summit.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the Nigerian striker scored his fourth goal of the season and first since early October, ending a frustrating injury-hit spell.

“It feels good to help the team to get the win today. We really showed character and we really worked hard today to get the win,” Iheanacho told Celtic TV.

“I think, especially in the first half, we blew them away and had a few chances, but unfortunately it didn’t click.

“In the second-half they came back and scored the penalty, but at the end we got the points which is massive.

“I’ve been out for a while so it feels good to be back and to help the team get the win, so I’m happy.”
