Fresh panic has spread across communities in Kwara state after a new video surfaced on social media showing abducted residents from Woro and surrounding villages in Kaiama local government area, appealing for government’s intervention for their rescue.
The footage obtained by a Blueprint correspondent on Friday follows an earlier clip released in mid-February that drew widespread condemnation and exposed the severity of the February attack on Woro and nearby Nuku communities.
In the earlier video, women and children believed to have been abducted during the assault were seen seated in groups, flanked by armed men speaking Hausa as they questioned them about their identities and places of origin, while some elderly women confirmed that they were from Woro.
The suspected kidnappers, believed to have ties with Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, reportedly used the earlier footage to counter official accounts, accusing authorities of understating the scale of the abduction.
One of the armed men in the video challenged government’s figures, insisting that the number of victims was far higher than what was reported, urging viewers to verify directly from those in captivity.
