The National Leadership of Nigerian Youth in Politics (NYIP) has expressed grief and outrage over recent killings in Agwan Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau state, calling for improved security measures to prevent such incidents.

In a statement on Friday in Abuja, NYIP Chairman, Hon. Felix Idowu and National Publicity Secretary Comrade Dotun Omoleye, urged security agencies to adopt a proactive stance, moving beyond reactive responses to strategic, preventative actions.

The group proposed the Community Resilience Against Terrorism (C-RAT) Initiative, a framework positioning communities as the first line of defence through early warning systems, local vigilance structures, and real-time communication channels with security agencies.

NYIP also emphasised the importance of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) transparency and fairness in the 2027 general elections, urging the commission to engage with stakeholders to build confidence in the electoral system.

The statement called for collective action from leadership at all levels to address insecurity and electoral integrity, empowering youths to take active responsibility in safeguarding their communities.
