Headmistress Dies In Same School Where Her Predecessor Also Died — Chiefs Rush To Perform Rituals

According to a report by YEN on Saturday, May 23, 2026, fear has taken over the Kobedi community in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region after two headteachers of the same school died one after the other under very strange circumstances.…....

The headmaster of Kobedi AME Zion Basic School died first in September 2025. Nobody expected what happened next. The woman who replaced him, Headmistress Gladys Dorlo Batinge, also died in April 2026. Same school. Same position. Two deaths. People began to talk.

Many people in the community believe the two deaths are not ordinary. They say a curse was placed on the school by someone from the Nzor community. This person was angry over claims that school authorities were taking money from people unfairly. Whether this is true or not, the fear in the community is very real.

The Queen Mother of Kobedi, Nana Ameyaa Ansu Gyeabour, has spoken. She confirmed that traditional authorities will perform special cleansing rituals to stop any more deaths. She said the chiefs and elders are working hard behind the scenes to settle the disputes that started all this trouble and bring peace back to the community so that children can return to school without fear.

Teachers at the school are scared. Children are not in school. Parents are worried. The whole community is unsettled.

The Krotihene of Kobedi, Nana Korang Amoah Asimpi, has warned journalists to stop publishing stories that are not verified. He said some media houses made the panic worse by reporting things that were not true. He urged reporters to always check facts with the traditional council first before publishing.

Education authorities in the district are expected to meet with the Kobedi Traditional Council this week. They want to check if the remaining teachers are mentally ready to return and plan the safe reopening of the school.

The community is hoping the rituals will bring peace. But for now, the school remains closed and the fear remains strong.
