A 35-year-old Canada-based Nigerian, Idris Olajide Oladejo, has been arrested and charged after he s€x¥ally a§§aulted a child inside a grocery store in Toronto.
According to the Toronto Police Service (TPS), the incident happened on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at about 7 p.m. in the Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East area.
Police said the child was shopping with their parents when the a§§ault occurred.
“The unknown suspect s€x¥ally a§§aulted the victim. The suspect then fled the area and was chased by a civilian,” the police said.
Following the incident, investigators released a description of the suspect and appealed to the public for information that could help identify him.
The suspect was initially described as a man believed to be about 30 years old with a thin build, last seen wearing a green T-shirt, dark-coloured Adidas shorts and pink Crocs.
In an update, the Toronto Police Service announced that Oladejo, a Toronto resident, was arrested on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
He has been charged with one count each of s+x¥al a§§ault and s€x¥al interference and was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on the same day.
Police noted that a s€x¥al a§§ault is any form of unwanted s€x¥al contact and urged anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward as investigations continue.
