A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Austin Okai, has declared that former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, cannot escape being jailed.

Bello is currently standing trial over an alleged ₦110.4 billion fraud case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

On Tuesday, a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, dismissed an application filed by the former governor challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.

Reacting to the development, Okai, a Kogi-born socio-political activist, insisted that nothing could prevent the former governor from eventually going to prison.

He urged politicians in Kogi State to begin aligning themselves with the ADC, hinting at what he described as an end to alleged electoral manipulation by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

He maintained that Bello’s imprisonment was an undeniable outcome that he could not avoid, advising politicians in the state to start identifying with the ADC, and suggesting that the APC’s alleged rigging apparatus would no longer be able to operate once Bello is confined.
