In a brilliantly executed operation that underscores the renewed vigor of the FCT Police Command, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have arrested six notorious kidnappers and successfully recovered ₦8.25 million in ransom paid for the release of a female abductee in Abuja.
Special praise must go to Disu and his crack team of VCRU detectives, whose intelligence-led investigations, sustained surveillance, and tactical precision were instrumental in dismantling the syndicate. Their bravery, swift coordination, and refusal to relent until the criminals were cornered exemplify the very best of modern policing.
This feat did not happen by chance—it is the direct result of Disu’s hands-on leadership and the unwavering dedication of every officer on the ground.
This breakthrough also reflects the stern backing of the Inspector General of Police, who has remained firmly on the case, holding Commissioners of Police across the country to strict account. The IGP’s relentless push for actionable results and his demand that Commissioners proactively tackle violent crime provided the necessary high-stakes impetus for this operation. His oversight ensured that no resource or intelligence was spared in bringing these kidnappers to justice.
Recovered exhibits include the full ₦8.25 million ransom, two operational vehicles, mobile phones, jewellery, a laptop, a cutlass, and other items suspected to be proceeds of crime. The suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution as investigations continue.
