Some residents had been agitating in the State, calling for the removal of the Emirs, changing the status quo, and for the re-installation of the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the sole Emir of Kano.
Former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso said the issue of the creation of five new Emirates would be revisited by the state government.
Kwankwaso, who spoke in Hausa during a live interview programme on Thursday night in Kano, stressed that the issue of the Kano Emirates would be revisited by the current administration.
The leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, said, “Honestly, it is one of the things that nobody has sat with me to discuss so far, but I am sure we are going to sit and see how to go about it, whether it is going to be allowed, restructured, or whatever. It will be revisited. Whatever is supposed to be done, will be done.
“There are a lot of things involved and this might even be a trap, who knows. But the truth is that all these things were not done in good faith, nor with good intention. They were done with some bad intentions which every one of you here and our listeners are aware of.
“Sometimes you come with things that are good and they turn out to be bad, while sometimes you bring bad things and they turn out to be good,” he said.
On the issue of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) merging with other political parties, Kwankwaso said the doors of the party were always open to discussions with interested parties when the need arises.
Recall that the former governor and now National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, had split the Kano Emirate into five, thereby creating Gaya, Bichi, and Rano Karaye Emirates, all carved out of the Kano Emirate. He further dethroned the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Following the victory of the NNPP at the Supreme Court last Friday, Kwankwaso said the government of Abba Kabir Yusuf would review the dethronement and balkanisation of the Kano Emirate.
