According to the statement, “Dr Oche who was appointed Rector of the state polytechnic in 2023, along with other heads of tertiary institutions, was relieved of his job by the governor in what many believe is an act of vendetta.
… Calls for their immediate reinstatement
The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade (Dr.) Abba Patrick Moro, has condemned in strong terms the reported sack of the Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Dr Nath Oche and other heads of tertiary institutions by the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
The condemnation was contained in a statement signed by Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, the media adviser of Senator Moro who is equally the Senate Minority Leader.
According to the statement, “Dr Oche who was appointed Rector of the state polytechnic in 2023, along with other heads of tertiary institutions, was relieved of his job by the governor in what many believe is an act of vendetta.
Senator Moro said the sack of Dr Nath and the other heads of tertiary institutions did not follow due process and is therefore illegal, calling on the governor to rescind his decision and reinstate the affected persons to continue with their jobs.
He charges “Governor Alia and all those in leadership positions to understand that power is transient”, while urging them “to vehemently resist the temptation of abusing their offices and hurting innocent people today as nobody knows tomorrow.”
The senator averred that “History has shown that those who trample on others as they climb the ladder of power would always meet those trampled people on their way down because no condition is permanent.”
He further stated that “The latest onslaught on Dr Nath Oche who is from the same native Ugbokolo with him is not unconnected with his recent disagreement with the governor over the illegal and unconstitutional dissolution of democratically elected councils in Benue State.”
