Youth unemployability is a threat to nation’s peaceful coexistence and development, an idle mind as popularly says is a devil’s workshop which should be put back on track through acceptable work or franchise. Different zones in the country are facing electricity shortages which directly crippled medium businesses, people that use electricity-driven machines in welding, volcanizing, grinding, carpentry and others are left with no choice than to embrace fuel-accelerated devices.
Recent approval by Mr President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of old national anthem as the nation celebrate twenty five years of uninterrupted democracy is a misplacement of priority. Nigeria as a country under the current administration has faced and still encountering unsummountable challenges in almost all sectors. It is unfortunate that leaders that supposed to strategize ways of solving what citizens are going through, but instead, focused more in what will add salt to the irksome injury.
Nowadays, it is hard upon common citizens to feed three square meals due to the skyrocketeering prices of food commodities. One might buy stuffs today but on returing the next day might buy at higher prices or leave. In this case, we are the architect of these problems because one hardly see an extremely rich man selling food stuffs in markets. Governments can install price control on commodities but neglect that while compelling people to adopt and sing old national anthem with empty stomachaches.
Furthermore, thousands of students in higher institutions have abandoned pursuance of their studies, majority of them are from poor backgrounds while others were sponsoring themselves to schools. They endured pains, worked under scorching sun and earned what they have been paying as school fees, but all ended-up as waste because they could no longer afford the hiked tuition fees. Governments have tried by introducing students’ loan, but not all students will be assimilated as beneficial due to their increasing population.
In essence, there are major challenges bedeviling Nigerians that need to be addressed.
Petrol is now costlier than other crude oil products which forced practitioners using it to increase prices. Insecurity in Northwestern part of Nigeria might cause resident to cohabit with hunger, bandits in villages of Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto imposed levies upon all that want to plant seeds in their rightly owned farms. Some villages are like death-zones as bandits stage attacks on them on broad day light without being prevented by security forces, residents have dumped their businesses, houses, belongings and migrated to neighboring villages or urban cities for safety.
In summary, if government desires to put an end to the problems in weeks months, I am pretty sure that it is possible as enough resources, manpower and other necessary inputs are available. Leaders should be considerate on the welfarism of all irrespective of region, tribe or religion. Let them put interest of the masses first, establish honest committees that will share the palliative in order to ameliorate the difficulties and after that, change of national anthem follow. An adage says one can control lion if he or she has been feeding it well. Nigerians will forever shower encomiums upon leaders only if they can get access to affordable healthcare, standard education, linkable roads, uniterrupted water and power supply but absence of them will result in otherwise.
