According to reliable sources, the royal father had been ill for a while and was admitted to St. Thomas Hospital in London, where he passed away on Wednesday afternoon.
Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale in the Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, has joined his ancestors.
His age was 79 years. Renowned journalist, he worked briefly for the former Daily Times of Nigeria.
He was first appointed as the Baale of Akinale by former Governor Gbenga Daniel in 2004 and was one of those who were promoted to an Oba by the same administration in 2006. He retired from his position as General Manager, Public Relations of the now-defunct Nigeria Airways.

A source closed to the late monarch, told our Correspondent that the royal father who just completed his PhD programme in law, was warming up for his graduation in few weeks.
The source said, “Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye joined his ancestors @79 in a London hospital after a brief illness”.
