Nigerian content creator and activist, Adebowale Debo Adedayo, also known as Mr Macaroni, has shared his story of becoming fearless after his arrest in 2021.
Recall that during a protest against the reopening of the Lekki Tollgate, Mr Macaroni was arrested by the Nigerian Police for defying the Lagos State government’s directive.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Mr Macaroni recounted his experience in police custody, describing it as a transformative moment that made him fearless and determined to advocate for the oppressed.
He shared that he was subjected to physical and emotional abuse, including being stripped naked and molested by officers who enjoyed torturing him.
Mr Macaroni emphasized that his experience in police custody was a turning point for him, as he now uses his platform to speak out against injustice and advocate for the rights of others.
He said:
“All the fear in me disappeared after that experience. That is the twist. It was after these guys tortured me and I saw the hate in their eyes, and how angry they were.
“The skit I made doesn’t do justice to what I experienced. I had to do it so that people could watch. I was completely naked. They stripped us naked and I was molested. They were happy and mentioning names. They were saying I was disturbing some people.”
In another story, Mr Macaroni cautions parents of children who remade his ‘freaky freaky’ skit in now viral video.
The video has caused a buzz on social media as many described it as inappropriate for children.
In a tweet via his X handle on Tuesday, October 15, Mr Macaroni sent a message to parents and guardians, calling their attention to the need for caution regarding the content children should be involved in.
Mr Macaroni wrote on X:
“Dear parents and guardians,
I understand the urge to want to make the most out of our uniquely talented children.
I however strongly believe that we must apply caution while doing so.
We must showcase their talents in ways appropriate for their respective ages.
We must put our children first and groom them right.
That way, we are able to develop the durability and longevity of their talent as opposed to a short viral moment.
We owe them and our society that guidance.
My love always. 🤍.”
