Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, met with the immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, at his Lagos residence on Saturday.
In a social media post, Kwankwaso stated that their discussion centered on national issues.
“This evening, I had the pleasure to visit the former Governor of Osun State and former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at his residence in Lagos.
“The meeting afforded us the opportunity to engage in discussions on national politics, governance, and the future of Nigeria’s democratic landscape. – RMK,” he wrote on X.
The meeting comes amid growing calls for the opposition to unite to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Aregbesola, once a close associate of President Tinubu, had a political rift with him over the second-term governorship ambition of Gboyega Oyetola.
Oyetola succeeded Aregbesola as Osun State governor before later serving as Minister under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Kwankwaso, a two-term Kano governor and former minister, was the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
