- He recalled Ndukauba’s efforts to end the crisis between him and Wike.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has said that his conflict with Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory, granted him autonomy to govern.
Fubara made this statement while hosting the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev Henry Ndukauba, and bishops at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
He acknowledged Ndukauba’s efforts to resolve the crisis between him and Wike, despite President Bola Tinubu’s attempts to intervene.
Fubara stated: “God has a way of doing his things. Maybe if we had achieved peace, I wouldn’t be enjoying this freedom.”
“I want to express gratitude in an unusual manner. This appreciation is long overdue.”
Fubara explained that Ndukauba, as a man of God, attempted to reconcile them, making several phone calls and booking appointments, but none were successful.
Fubara continued: “I appreciate his efforts, despite the lack of desired outcome. God works in mysterious ways.”
“Perhaps, if we had achieved peace earlier, I wouldn’t be enjoying this freedom.”
Fubara concluded: “At times, God allows trouble to lead to peace. However, this doesn’t mean we encourage conflict. Peace is essential for development.”
