Chief Agbese’s commitment to education is also commendable. His plans to promote education in the community by providing scholarships, building schools, and promoting the training of teachers will ensure that our children have access to quality education, which is the bedrock of development.
In the Ado/Ogbadigba/Opkokwu federal constituency of Benue State, Nigeria, there are two very different economies. On the one hand, there is the economy of poverty and underdevelopment, plagued by a lack of basic infrastructure and social services. On the other hand, there is the economy of hope and progress, fueled by the vision of an incoming elected legislator into the 10th assembly, Chief Philip Agbese.
As a concerned citizen of this constituency, I want to clarify that I am by no means Chief Philip Agbese’s spokesperson, nor do I stand to benefit anything personally by writing this piece. I am simply speaking out of my own accord because I believe in the importance of accountable leadership. As a product of the Nigerian political class, I know first-hand what the appearance and reality of accountable leadership look like.
Chief Agbese’s election gives us hope that we can finally see some progress in our community and Nigeria at large. At the very least, reintegrating the vision on which Chief Philip Agbese ran and got elected on should make him know that this isn’t business as usual. Concerned citizens, both home and abroad, are watching keenly to support his progressive vision and wouldn’t hesitate to hold him accountable to his words.
Chief Agbese understands that agriculture is key to the economic development of our community. His plans to lobby for the provision of agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers, tractors, and improved seedlings, to farmers in the community, will go a long way in increasing crop yields and improving the livelihoods of farmers. This will in turn boost economic activities in the community and create new opportunities for growth and development.
Moreover, Chief Agbese’s strategic position in serving in a house committee will be advantageous in accomplishing his plans to alleviate the weakening economy, rising insecurity, and violent conflicts that threaten progress in Nigeria. His plans to fight corruption, improve security, and promote economic empowerment are quite commendable and will be beneficial not just to our community but also to Nigeria as a whole.
The lack of potable water is another major challenge in our community, and Chief Agbese’s plans to provide boreholes and other water facilities will ensure that the people have access to clean and safe water. This will improve the health of the people and reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases.
Chief Agbese’s commitment to education is also commendable. His plans to promote education in the community by providing scholarships, building schools, and promoting the training of teachers will ensure that our children have access to quality education, which is the bedrock of development.
In conclusion, Chief Philip Agbese is an incoming elected legislator into the 10th assembly with a vision for the development of our community. His plans to embark on various infrastructure and social projects, and his strategic position in serving in a house committee, will enable him to contribute towards alleviating the weakening economy, rising insecurity, and violent conflicts that threaten progress in Nigeria. We must support Chief Agbese’s candidacy and give him the opportunity to bring transformative representation to our community and Nigeria at large.
