He noted that continental objective of SMEs was ratified and adopted by the African Union (AU) and that its advocacy over annual parley was approved by the heads of Government.
The president of the group appreciates the AU Commission under the leadership of H.E, Moussa Faki and the AU Department of Economic Affairs, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals (AU-ETTIM) for heeding to AAASME advocacy over an annual continental parley with SMEs.
He disclosed that the summit produced 56-page pact resolutions, reiterated the importance of SMEs and their relevance which he said has earned a seat on the global decisions, regardless the journey towards their desired destination remains far off.
According to him, it is imperative to have an acceleration which can better happen with the strive for a seat on the global and continental decisions taken by institutional stakeholders.
“AAASME as a pan-continental SMEs body that advocates, promotes, supports and develops Africa’s SME ecosystem commended the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) for advancing the initiative for celebrations of SMEs and the UN subsequently approving June 27 annually for global celebration of SMEs.”
The group stated that it endorses the summit of the future pact for a shared future and assured prosperity with no one left behind.
“We commit to enhanced collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve a set global vision and agenda for the general benefit of the human race. While looking forward to a great future, together we can shape, reframe, re-imagine and put Africa in its rightful pride of place.”
He therefore called on the stakeholders to capitalise on the renewed momentum gathered from the summit for the future and accelerate the SDG as well as amplify multilateral efforts to deliver on joint commitments of agenda 2030 for sustainable developments.
