Adamu Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said Alex Otti may not want to continue with Labour Party because he is “not a labourer in vain”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Garba was reacting to the outcome of the Abia State governorship election which produced Otti of the Labour Party as the winner.
Recall the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Wednesday that Oti won 10 of the 17 local government areas (LGAs) in Abia State and polled 175,467 votes in the Saturday, March 18, election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Okey Ahiwe, scored a total of 88,529 votes, while Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) came in third with 28,972 votes.
Garba wrote on his verified Twitter handle: “Congratulations to His Excellency, Alex Otti for winning the Abia State Governorship election under the Labour Party, even though I presume you may not want to continue with LP because you are not a laborer in vain.
“Once you change your mind, we are ready to welcome you to APC.”
This newspaper reports that Otti is a former member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the APC.
