Fusco claims that the shooting took place after Jones was ejected from an Airbnb on Saturday afternoon for staying longer than permitted at a celebration pool party.
The 26-year-old Florida rapper Julio Foolio, whose true name is Charles Jones, was shot and died early on Sunday morning.
The event happened in a Tampa Holiday Inn’s parking lot.
Lewis Fusco, the attorney for Jones, informed CBS News station WTSP-TV of Jones’ passing.
Fusco claims that the shooting took place after Jones was ejected from an Airbnb on Saturday afternoon for staying longer than permitted at a celebration pool party.
Julio Foolio had advertised the pool party at the Airbnb earlier in the day on social media.
Following their removal from the Airbnb, the group relocated to the Holiday Inn, where the ambush is reported to have taken place.
The Tampa Police Department reported that three other people were injured in the shooting but are currently in stable condition.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Jones had previously survived shooting incidents in 2020, 2021, and 2023, according to First Coast News.
