- Veteran actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo rages over the Federal Government’s ban on movies depicting ritual, smoking, alongside other vices.
- KOK described the move as a nonsensical one.
Veteran Nollywood star, Kanayo O. Kanayo reacts to FG’s ban on movies bordering money rituals, smoking, and other vices.
Recall that the Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini announced that the Federal Government has approved the prohibition of money rituals and the glamorization of vices in Nigerian films.
Dr. Husseini made this disclosure at a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood, held in Enugu on Wednesday.
The event was organized by the NFVCB and Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA).
The event brought together movie producers, directors, and actors from across the country, as well as leaders of various guilds and associations in the Nigerian film industry.
The new regulations aim to promote a more responsible and ethical film industry in Nigeria and to prevent the promotion of harmful and illegal activities through film.
Husseini said that Nigeria was facing an industry emergency requiring bold and ambitious actions from all parents, guardians and stakeholders.
In reaction to this, Kanayo O. Kanayo swiftly dropped a comment under the post made by a popular blog in this regard.
He expressed resentment over the move by the government, tagging it as ‘nonsense’. He further blasted the minister, stating he has no work like Lia Mohammed.
In his words:
“Arrant NONSENSE. This Minister has no work, just like Liar Mohammed.”
