Popular content creator and artiste, Carter Efe, disclosed that Afrobeats sensation Asake, also known as Ahmed Ololade, was allegedly chased off the stage during his concert at London’s O2 Arena last year.
Carter Efe shared this revelation during an episode of the “Spill With Phyna” podcast.
Carter Efe claimed that the management of the venue turned off the lights after the Grammy-nominated YBNL signee finished his performance.
Expressing his concern about the treatment meted out to Nigerian creatives by Western music executives and show promoters, Carter Efe lamented the unfairness faced by his colleagues.
During the podcast, he emphasized that despite the challenges, Nigerian artists often continue to collaborate with foreign music executives.
“The management of 02 Arena turned off the lights during Asake’s performance at the venue last year. Westerners treat us anyhow, and we still go back to them. They chased Asake off the stage. They put off the lights. I’m not lying,” Carter Efe said.
In response to the perceived injustice, the podcast host, Phyna, suggested that Nigerian artists should unite and organize concerts for their fans in the country.
However, Carter Efe dismissed the idea, citing a lack of facilities in the country to host events of such magnitude.
