A prominent Ijaw activist, Mujahid Asari Dokubo, on Monday said he has never been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and would most likely not become a card-carrying member of the ruling party in his lifetime.
Speaking in a Facebook Live, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA, the 58-year-old said although he was a member of the Action Congress (AC) and the Alliance for Democracy (AD), he does not see himself as a member of the APC.
This newspaper reports that many members of both the AC and AD have today aligned with the APC. The AC was a political party formed via the merger of a faction of AD, the Justice Party, the Advance Congress of Democrats, and several other minor political parties in September 2006.
“I am not an APC member. I have never joined APC,” Dokubo said, in response to the claim by a critic.
“So, I will not even carry APC card maybe throughout my life, except something changes drastically.
“I was an AC member; AD member.”
Dokubo is a top campaigner of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The incoming president is a former National Leader of the APC.
