Senator Lawal Adamu Usman’s exceptional performance in the senate within a shortest period of eight months, has continued to give them sleepless night. With his scorecard of numerous achievements, distinguished senator has redefined the politics of Kaduna. To his credit, he sponsored three important bills within a short period of time namely: the National Eye Centre Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (SB 83) which passed its first reading.
For the umpteenth times, senator Lawal Adamu Usman, representing Kaduna central, has come under another attacks from his detractors. A faceless and sponsored group that goes with a questionable name Kaduna State Concerned PDP Youth, recently wrote a trash article laced with lies and inuendous aimed at blackmailing, demeaning and ridicule the status of the distinguished senator . The group, In their laughable write-up, accused Senator Lawal Usman Adamu of carrying out dirty jobs on behalf of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. Ordinary ,the fictitious group neither deserve attention nor reply. But for the gullible minds who may swallow their naked lies hook, line and sinker, it has become imperative to set the record straight. Though, the group has failed to state the dirty jobs senator Lawal Adamu Usman is pursuing or carrying out on behalf of the senate President, which question their motives and further ridicule them. For those of us who are conversant with the politics of Kaduna central since the time senator Lawal Adamu Usman forayed into it, the activities of this hired group and their malicious intent did not come to us as surprise.
Immediately after Senator Lawal Adamu Usman emerged as senatorial candidate of Kaduna central, under the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP),all hell will let loose. Some people who arrogated themselves with the omnipotent power in the party and thought they had the licence to anoint people to leadership position, descend on him. His only sin was that he defeated their sponsored candidate. Before the 2023 general elections, senator Lawal Adamu Usman, had to contend with many legal cases instituted by his opponents, before he got his ticket back which he legitimately and convincingly won with wide margin during the primaries. Despite the facts, they plotted all evils against him including anti-party, he sailed to victory through massive votes from the good people of Kaduna central. Ever since, these frustrated people refused to backdown, accept defeat and play the politics even with the scintilla of decorum.
When passed into law, the bill will put the National Eye Centre in Kaduna into a better position to attend to the ever increasing demand for better eye care service delivery in the country. Bill for establishment of Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Kaduna State (Establishment) Bill. Another Bill worth mentioning is for the Establishment of National Institute for Education Planning, Administration and Other Related Matters.
The Bill was initiated by the 9th Senate on the 10th of May, 2023. It has gone through every Legislative process however, it could not be transmitted to the House of Representatives due to its timing which was sacrosanct with political activities across the country. The Agency has been in existence since 1992 but was never recognised by any enabling law. In the light of the foregoing, this Bill will secure the Agency which is already in existence in Ondo State and will give it the required strength and attention to operate to its full capacity. While his predecessors failed to provide good representation, senator Lawal Adamu Usman has changed the narrative.
Besides, his political enemies are envy about his unique youths empowerment programme. Senator Lawal Adamu Usman recently doled out ₦500,000 to two hundred youths and vulnerable women as started up capital. The empowerment program was the first of its kind not only in Kaduna central, but also in the country at large. Further more, his passion for the development of education has led to bursary awards to hundreds students of tertiary institutions across the seven local governments. With this sterling performance, one sees the reason why senator Lawal Adamu Usman becomes the target of these outdated politicians who have lost relevance and are hellbent to bring him down using all crude method available. However, no amount of blackmail, campaign of calumny and distraction will diminish senator Lawal Adamu Usman’s towering profile. The group should also tarry a while and stop dragging the name of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, whose leadership style is in concert with Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda anchor on economy and social rejuvenation.
