The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky.
WITHIN NIGERIA reported hours ago that the controversial crossdresser has been arrested. According to reports online, the crossdresser was arrested at Pinnock Estate, in Lagos State on April 3, 2024, at about 3 pm.
Confirming his arrest, the spokesperson for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Dele Oyewale exclusively revealed to LIB, the cause of Bobrisky’s arrest.
Dele Oyewale stated that the crossdresser was arrested for currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.
He added that the internet sensation is in their facility in Lagos and would be charged to court soon. In Dele Oyewale’s words:
“He is with us. We arrested him over currency mutilation and abuse of Naira. He is in our facility in Lagos State.”
This is coming just two days after the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed why Bobrisky, James Brown, and other cross dressers can’t be arrested.
He stated that it is a very tricky situation, as he expressed how cross-dressing is not yet a punishable offense in Nigeria, but being queer is.
He made it known that even if there might be rumors of people who cross-dress also being a part of the LGBTQ community, because there is no specific evidence to back that up, they cannot take them to court and if eventually taken to court, one will lose.
