Hon. Nuhu Abok has been reinstated as Speaker of the Assembly by a Plateau High Court on Monday, presided over by Justice M. L. Musa.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the Assembly impeached Honurable Abok in October 2021.
In contrast, the Court’s ruling upheld the complainants’ arguments that the impeachment was unlawful and hence void.
The Court further awarded N1.5million as cost of appearance and N138,000 as cost of filing the matter against the defenders.
Also, it should be recalled that, at the time of the impeachment, Abok was replaced as Speaker by Hon. Yakubu Sanda.
However, Sanda lost to Hon. Mrs. Happiness Matthew Akawu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently held Pengana State constituency election.
