The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has given his approval for the deployment of three police commissioners to Imo State, which is less than two days before the presidential and national assembly elections in the nation.
The new CPs are Alex Wannang, Imo North, CP Banji Ogunrinde, Imo East Zone, and CP Chris Aimionowane, Imo West Zone, all of whom may be reached at 08030790087.
According to ASP Henry, the command in Imo’s spokesperson, they were sent to the state of Imo to provide secure protection before, during, and after the 2023 elections.
The statement reads, “In order to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the elections in every nook and cranny of the state, the CPs have resumed duty and are strategizing based on the already-existing security architecture.
“The CPs assigned to the state’s election duties promised Imo State’s decent citizens and all political actors of complete impartiality and a level playing field as they carried out their civic obligations in the upcoming presidential, national assembly, and state assembly elections, respectively.
“The freshly deployed CPs also advised the destabilization agents to reconsider their plans because the officers and soldiers are well-prepared to deal with any stubborn elements.
“This deployment is to make sure that nothing is overlooked in creating a favorable environment for the law abiding citizens of Imo State to exercise their right to vote and to conduct the general elections in 2023 free from political thuggery and other threats before, during, and after the election.
