The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, who is the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lost his House of Representatives election to the Labour Party.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Orji contested for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Professor Uma Kalu Oke said Aguocha of the Labour Party polled a total of 48,199 to defeat Orji who scored 35,196 votes.
Orji is the son of a former governor of Abia State and the incumbent senator representing Abia Central at the National Assembly, Theodore Orji, who did not contest again, having served eight years at the Red Chamber.
Obinna Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 2,386, while Friday Chimaobi of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) polled 1,013 votes.
Others, including Patience Okorie of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 644 votes, Christian Ibekwe Christian of NRM got 68 votes whereas Nnamdi Ogbuagu of APP scored 347 votes.
