The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Sunday condemned the setting ablaze of the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Takai Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that as election results trickle in, political thugs reportedly set fire to the INEC office in Takai LGA as early results show the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, winning in Kano State.
In a statement sent to this newspaper by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Spokesperson to NNPP Campaign Council, the party accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the violence.
The statement reads: “The APC is all out to destroy collation processes and declaration of results after realising the potentials of the NNPP at the polls yesterday.
“This unpatriotic attack on the electoral umpire came at a time when collation was at 85 per cent completion today by 11.00 am.
“The security agencies shall as a matter of urgency swing into action to curtail the occurrences of such incidences in other locations.
“Security, Media, Election Observers and INEC to take note, please.”
