However, Ajala Adetunji, the coordinator of the Coalition of Concern Nigeria Citizens, the group spearheading the protest, stated during her speech on Sunday at Freedom Park that although the group would meet later to discuss a future course of action, the protest is still ongoing as the President has not addressed any of their concerns.
The #Endbadgovernance protest organizers in Osun State revealed on Sunday that President Bola Tinubu did not respond to any of their issues.
During his nationwide broadcast, the President pleaded with the demonstrators to put a halt to their actions and make way for communication.
“Our protest is not a one-man show, especially as Osun’s case is concerned. Regarding the President Bola Tinubu’s address this morning, he did not address any of our concerns.
“The president was not specific on what the government will do to address the demands of the youth. The president’s call for dialogue is an open-end appeal, which does not have a clear indicator on what will be done.
“However, we are still going to meet to deliberate but as it stands, the protest continues in Osun.” he said
Similarly, Comrade Emmanuel Olowu, Secretary, Osun Coalition of Civil Societies, which is also part of the protest said the President’s appeal for end and embrace dialogue will be discussed at a meeting of the various groups later in the day.
As far as the President’s speech is concerned, he has not address our worries, but that not withstanding, we will converge later to discuss way forward on the protest.
It is a movement for Nigerians which we are leading but the people would eventually decide in which direction the protest would move going forward”, he added.
