Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has expressed his intention to surrender himself to the police after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.
Portable, who was accused of leading an attack on government officials carrying out their duties, took to his Instagram story on Wednesday, February 19, to express his remorse and explain why he initially fled.
He admitted that fear drove him to run but emphasized that he now seeks mercy.
The singer, who claimed to have been hospitalized for days, said he was under spiritual attack and prayed for God’s intervention.
He also apologized to the Ogun State government and acknowledged the police as his “friends and family.”
“Oba Anu, I’m going out today. God turn my battles to blessings, speak for me. I dey help people, God help me send my own helper to me. Ogun state government, I’m sorry, it’s fear that made me run. Thank God the police are our friends and family. God forgive me. I believe in you, every disappointment is a blessing,” he wrote in part.
His statement has since gone viral, sparking reactions from social media users. Many have urged him to surrender to the authorities and face the situation head-on.
This development follows an appeal from his fourth baby mama, Ashabi, who also pleaded on his behalf after his wanted status was announced.
