The Nigeria I want— my wishes for Nigeria as a federation has gotten a loud voice— it has because
the heads our thumbs chose into offices should be willing to go the extra mile to fulfil them.
Firstly, our education. It is good to know that Nigeria as a whole is soaring higher than expected: the records of
students winning international prizes show that this country owns many stars— in both sporting and intellectual activities. However, one of the qualities by which we chose leaders to govern us was their aim of blooming education within the country so that it becomes beneficial to the entire continent. So, the Nigeria I aspire in the next year should be a research centre. Our schools should be well equipped with all the necessities needed to boost the students– including lab apparatuses, books and encyclopaedias for school libraries, computers within the schools for students’ research, and laptops for the teachers to ease their work and boost the efficiency to the students. Nigeria where there will be equality between the teaching syllables of private and Government schools. A Nigeria where the age of “Educational Subsidies” will begin (to ease the cost of educational materials for poor students and their parents). A Nigeria where each state is capable of owning a building that could accommodate all the student sitting for their JAMB at once, to ensure an accurate result for each of them that sat for the exams. A Nigeria state where we can give priority and opportunities to students through competitions and creative workshops.
Moreover, the engagement of the citizens (employment) is a dream I want Nigeria to achieve. I want to see a Nigeria where youths are engaged to work, children are in schools, and parents are in their business places or offices.
There are more fortunes we have in our soil: research in 2009 by African Journals Online shows the discovery
of Copper and Zinc in our soil, which are minerals essential to maintain the structure, function and multiplication of our body cells— we can utilize these minerals from our soil to make a good income— other
sources of income include gold, crude oil and agriculture, rather than these resources being stolen.
I want to see a Nigeria where we can boast of what we eat, where we can utilize our land for agriculture, where we can export our products to other countries and make our income, which will also serve as employment for the youths, and for them to leave their wayward lives off the streets. If we have a Nigeria where everyone is engaged, no one will have the time to go into terrorism or cause miscreant to our society— with this, the issue of insecurity is hereby tackled. Agricultural subsidies for peasant farmers and loans will help the masses to put their
interest into agriculture. “The thugs today are not thugs because they chose to, but because they don’t have any
educational background, and they are deserted or made jobless”. However, engaging the thugs and giving them a good way of surviving through employment will go a long way to help in our country’s healthiness.
A Nigeria where one finds a job after their degree. A Nigeria State where we have a stable power supply for the masses and the industries to ensure that students always have access to their books at any hour of the day— (mid-nights most), and to enable effective productions of industries for the masses.
In addition, I want to see a Nigeria where we have tarred roads for travelers and farmers. For people settling in
urban areas who are already addicted to farming, to ease their transportation of farm produce to the market. A Nigeria where we have industries to process our farm outputs by ourselves.
A Nigeria where no one will be addicted to bribery or corruption— equality.
A Nigeria with excess functioning traffic lights and rules- to govern the life of its citizens while using the road.
Conclusively, if we can achieve a Nigeria where the issues of agriculture, education and employment are
tackled, every other problem is hereby fixed. However, I hope to see a Nigeria that will always put a smile on our faces.
