Nigerian music superstars Wizkid and Davido secured major wins at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, further solidifying their status in the global music industry.
The winners for the 56th edition of the prestigious awards were announced over two nights, recognizing outstanding achievements in film, television, theater, music, and literature.
Wizkid won the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary) for his song Piece of My Heart featuring Brent Faiyaz. This marks Wizkid’s sixth NAACP Image Award win, making him the most awarded Nigerian artist in the history of the event.
Meanwhile, Davido clinched the Outstanding International Song award for Hmmm, his collaboration with Chris Brown, beating Wizkid in the same category.
Despite their wins, other Nigerian nominees such as Tems and Burna Boy failed to secure victories in their respective categories.
The NAACP Image Awards honored several other global artists across multiple categories. Beyoncé emerged as Outstanding Female Artist, while Chris Brown took home Outstanding Male Artist. The Outstanding Album award went to Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter, and Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us was named Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song.
In the film and television categories, Samuel L. Jackson won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, and Taraji P. Henson took home Outstanding Supporting Actress for the same production. Jamie Foxx’s stand-up special What Had Happened Was… won Outstanding Variety Show, while Gracie’s Corner was named Outstanding Children’s Program.
