In his heartfelt statement on his social media handles, he described the late banker as a visionary whose transformative leadership and unparalleled contributions to finance and banking goes beyond Nigeria.

The late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, his wife, and his son were laid to rest today, exactly after a month of his demise, in a private interment following the funeral church service.

Wigwe died on 9 February 2024 in a helicopter crash in Nipton, California alongside his wife Doreen Chizoba Wigwe, his son Chizi Wigwe and former Nigerian Exchange Group Plc Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.
They were on their way to attend the National Football League Champions game’s Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
