American singer and actress, Selena Gomez has shared her intention to adopt children if finds herself still single at the age of 35.
The 31 year old singer revealed that her decision to adopt was influenced by her five-year period of being single before starting a romantic relationship with producer and songwriter Benny Blanco last year.
During an interview with Time Magazine, Selena Gomez opened up about her struggle with loneliness and the process of accepting her singlehood.
“I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it,” she said.
“A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
Selena Gomez confirmed she was dating Benny Blanco in December 2023.

Gomez, who was once the most followed celebrity on Instagram, recently launched her mental health platform Wondermind, where she disclosed to Good Morning America on Monday that she had avoided the internet for over four years to protect her mental health.
The actress noted that removing herself from social media had helped her feel “normal” and made tremendous improvement mentally.
“Growing up in the spotlight has definitely taught me so much,” she said, “I can’t believe I am where I am mentally just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it’s just not normal.”
“I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years, it has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
