Nigerian film actress Ayo Adesanya has spilled the tea on her personal life and crashed marriage.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on the With Chude podcast, Ayo Adesanya revealed that she was in an abusive marriage for 10 years, which drove her to become an alcoholic.
The mother of one recalled her ordeal in her ex-husband’s hands, who would reportedly beat her at the slightest chance he got. She added that she couldn’t bring herself to leave because of the shame of what people would say.
Ayo Adesanya however disclosed that some of her colleagues, like Bimbo Akintola knew what she was facing and were very upset that she didn’t leave the abusive marriage.
The movie star narrated how her ex threatened to pluck out her eyes with a knife and sent their 1-year-old son away to Ibadan because he was jealous of the attention she was giving their child.
Ayo Adesanya said when she finally left the marriage, she took a break from Nollywood but returned to rebuild her career. In her words:
“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me.
He beat me so much, I became an alcoholic. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man”.
Ayo Adesanya was married to Goriola Hassan, before they got divorced. They have a son together
