Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his wife Chioma’s wedding planner, Funke Bucknor Obruthe, has opened up on the behind-the-scenes of their high-profile wedding.
Bucknor Obruthe shared these details on her YouTube channel, offering a glimpse into how the grand event came to fruition.
According to Bucknor Obruthe, Davido first approached her in 2020 with a request to plan his wedding.
The initial discussions reportedly took place shortly after Davido’s performance at an event.
“In 2020, I met Davido, and he had just finished performing. I was just outside and David said to me ‘you are planning my wedding’ and this was in 2020. But as you know, after 2020, a few things happened, and life got in the way, and they had to put a pause on the planning,” Bucknor said.
However, the wedding planning faced delays due to the global pandemic and other unforeseen challenges.
Fast forward to early 2024, Bucknor Obruthe received a message from Davido, notifying her of an impending call from his sister.
“Fast forward to 2024, I get a message in my DM and I see it’s from David and he says ‘Aunty Funke, my sister is going to call you. I say ‘what is she calling me about?’ and he says ‘my wedding’ and this was in February and I was like yeahh!,” she added.
Bucknor Obruthe, who had previously organized Davido’s sister Coco’s wedding, shared that she later received calls from Davido’s other sister Sharon and Chioma’s sister Jennifer.
Together, they officially began planning the grand event, which generated waves of reactions on social media.
