- Jide Kosoko postpones his 70th birthday celebration, citing solidarity with Nigerians facing economic challenges and hoping for resolution
- Despite previously celebrating with a thanksgiving service, Kosoko defers the lavish celebration in consideration of the nation’s hardships
Nollywood icon Jide Kosoko has announced the postponement of his 70th birthday celebration in light of the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Kosoko expressed gratitude to his colleagues and fans who had planned to honor him for his contributions to the entertainment industry while he is still alive.
Having already celebrated his milestone birthday on January 12th with a thanksgiving service attended by friends, family, and well-wishers, Kosoko’s admirers had envisioned a lavish celebration to commemorate his achievements.
However, considering the current economic hardships faced by many Nigerians, Kosoko has decided to defer the celebration out of solidarity with the masses.
He stated, “I have discussed with them, and they reasoned, that the celebration should be put on hold, basically because of the current situation in the country and what the people are going through.”
Kosoko expressed optimism that the challenges confronting the nation would soon be resolved, allowing for a more joyous celebration in the future.
He concluded by thanking everyone for their understanding and support during this period of postponement.
