Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, and Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, allegedly have plans to run again, according to Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesman for the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
He claims that should the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) triumph in the elections on Saturday, the party has already planned how the two can keep their positions.
According to the leader of the Labour Party, the APC is a religious party; otherwise, why would they want to keep these two when all of their top positions are held by Muslims?
According to Okonkwo, who claimed that it violates the constitution’s provisions, the APC, which is a religious party, has no issue with the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The veteran actor reportedly stated that when he was a guest on Channels Television’s 2023 Verdict on Thursday.
He claimed that because Nigeria is a multireligious nation and values justice above all else, it is clear that religion must be taken into account in politics and government.
The APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, his running mate Kashim Shettima, and other high-ranking officials are all Muslims, he pointed out.
The APC chairman (Abdullahi Adamu) is Muslim, the Senate President (Ahmad Lawan) is Muslim, and the House of Representatives Speaker (Femi Gbajabiamila) is Muslim.
The Deputy Speaker (Ahmed Wase) is Muslim. APC is a religious party, they are religious. This is a multi-religious country, he added.
