His full name was Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, but he was commonly referred to as Rotimi Akeredolu. He lived from July 21, 1956 to December 27, 2023. During his lifetime, he was a lawyer and a politician in Nigeria, who served as the Ondo State Governor from 2017 until his death in 2023.

According to the BBC, his funeral is taking place today at Owo, where dignitaries have gathered at St Andrews Catheral to bid him farewell. Several governors have attended the funeral, led by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Other Governors in attendance include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State. The National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Gaduje and Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima are also in attendance.
