The Labour Party (LP) has scheduled its Anambra state governorship primary for April 5.
A statement released on Wednesday by Obiora Ifoh, LP’s national publicity secretary, revealed the party’s national working committee (NWC) made the decision.
According to the statement, the state gubernatorial primaries timetable shows the expression of interest and nomination forms sale starts February 10.
It added that delegates’ forms sales begin March 20; however, the prices for expression of interest and nomination forms are yet to be disclosed.
The party spokesperson advised interested aspirants to visit the LP national headquarters for guidelines and information.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set the Anambra governorship election for November 8.
At an Abuja meeting with parties in October 2024, INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu explained the electoral law requires publishing election notices at least 360 days prior.
Yakubu urged parties to plan using the INEC timetable, scheduling primaries between March 20 and April 10, 2025.
Anambra is among states holding governorship elections at different times, including Edo, Osun, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Kogi, and Imo.
