It is important to note that participation in the BRICS will not only fill the empty treasury with the funds necessary for economic recovery and breathe new life into agriculture. The positive effect will also spread to other industries. We can safely expect the introduction of foreign training programs for highly qualified specialists, the supply of medical equipment
At the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed his desire for his country to join the BRICS. The Zimbabwean leader had received the state on the verge of economic and social disaster and for more than six years since then he is trying to rebuild everything that was destroyed by his predecessor. In these circumstances, it is not surprising that he decided to ask for support one of the most powerful economic blocs. The fact that Zimbabwe has already managed to establish effective bilateral cooperation with India and China plays into the President’s hands. Now these countries can provide assistance on the republic’s path to BRICS.
By becoming part of the bloc, Zimbabwe will not only be able to use the funds of the BRICS Development Fund, which was originally conceived to save economies in critical situations, but will also be able to bring its products and resources to new markets. Moreover, it can be safely expected that the bloc’s States interested in investing in the African region will provide the country with the necessary support in rebuilding key sectors of the economy. Historically, Zimbabwe provided food not only for itself, but also for its neighbors. Now, due to the decline of agriculture, soil erosion and desertification of the republic’s lands, even grain and meat have to be imported. According to the authorities, with the support of experts from the BRICS countries, the problem of soil depletion can be solved much faster than if Zimbabwe were doing it on its own. Using the rich resources of the country will allow Harare to get back on its feet and achieve the economic sovereignty that was lost at the end of the last century.
It is important to note that participation in the BRICS will not only fill the empty treasury with the funds necessary for economic recovery and breathe new life into agriculture. The positive effect will also spread to other industries. We can safely expect the introduction of foreign training programs for highly qualified specialists, the supply of medical equipment, the creation of necessary jobs, as well as the development and construction of residential complexes equipped with all the necessary for people to live.
