Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has sparked a heated debate on social media with his thoughts on the concept of “village people” obstructing people’s’ progress.
In a recent post on Instagram, Yul Edochie challenged the common belief that external forces from one’s village are responsible for hindering progress.
According to Yul Edochie, it is not the “village people” who are holding individuals back, but rather the individuals themselves.
He emphasized that people from the villages are also striving to improve their lives and do not have the time or energy to focus on hindering others.
Yul Edochie also touched on the role of the church in addressing life’s challenges.
He suggested that relying solely on the church is not a comprehensive solution and encouraged individuals to explore their roots and cultural heritage to discover their true identities.
He wrote:
“Nobody hold you for village. Village people don’t even have your time.
They’re busy trying to make headway in their own lives. Na you hold yourself.
Go home, go traditional and ask questions about your life. Know who you are, where you come from and where you should be heading to.
Church doesn’t solve everything.”
The actor’s words have generated significant discussion online, with some people expressing disagreement with his views.
