Clinton Amadi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Owerri municipal House of Assembly, has been arrested by the Imo State police command.
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Amadi was arrested on Monday at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) State Headquarters in Owerri, Imo State.
According to the source, the LP candidate was arrested while visiting the electoral body’s office.
Amadi had gone to the INEC office to obtain certified true copies of the INEC results from the recently completed March 18th election in order to prosecute his case in the tribunal.
In a chat with the platform after his arrest, the LP candidate claimed that INEC officials in Owerri, the state capital, conspired to arrest him with men from the state command’s Tiger Base unit.
He said;
I was called to come to INEC Office to collect the certified copy of the INEC results, reaching there in the afternoon I got sorrunded by heavily Armed Policemen who arrested me.
Currently I am at the Tiger Base Unit of Imo State Police command just sneaked out to answer your call.
