The Member Representing Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu Federal Constituency Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya has asked the publisher of The Daily Times Nigeria Newspaper an online platform to retract a slanderous publication against him or face an immediate court action.
According to a statement issued by his Senior Legislative Aide Ibrahim Umar to Media Houses in kano.
The said publication which was posted on the platform on Monday, February 20, 2023, was titled Group Reveals Certificate Scandal Of Reps Member Representing Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu.
The lawmaker described the said publication as baseless, defamatory, most disparaging and calculated to cause maximum damage to the personality.
The statement noted that any serious-minded newspaper conventional or online always respects its status in doing the needful in exercising its franchise duties being the Forth Estate Of Democracy, saying to our utmost surprise, the newspaper lowering its status by allowing a ghost reporter with scanty journalism experience to be used in serving the interest of certain Desperate Office Seekers who wanted to tarnish the hard-earned reputations of Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya.
The story only succeeded in exposing the reporter’s ignorance of what has happened in Gaya politics which this faceless Coalition of Gaya Youths, revealed in its statement issued to your correspondent
