The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) protesters, a pot of charms (Juju), and a herbalist continued their demonstration on Tuesday morning at the main gate to the Rivers State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt, causing a small amount of drama.
The protestors, who also brought palm fronds, were on their second day of demonstrations to call for a joint review of the INEC office’s electoral materials for the 2023 election.
They had accosted Tonye Cole, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, on Monday and stopped him from entering the electoral umpire’s office, where he was supposed to meet with commission members.
When the protest resumed on Tuesday, the chairman of Ikwerre local government area of the State, Samuel Nwanosike, who dressed in a white attire and a traditional cap to match, was seen making incantations in his native Ikwerre language.
