Seun Kuti, son of afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti has taken to social media in response to the criticism that has trailed an old tweet of his, where he praised Bola Tinubu for bringing President Muhammadu Buhari to power.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls Seun had berated singer, Peter Okoye for performing at the inauguration ceremony of President Buhari in 2015.
In the wake of Seun Kuti’s war of words with Peter Okoye, the former also stated that it takes the effort of dedicated Nigerians to save Nigeria, not an opportunist like Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Peter Okoye who is a staunch supporter of Peter Obi slammed Seun Kuti for calling Peter Obi an opportunist and by extension throws shade at his father, Fela Kuti, the Afrobeats legend. This led netizens to dig up the Afrobeats singer’s old tweets. In 2015 he had tweeted:
“I wan thank Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bringing dis change, Aluta Continua.”
Seun Kuti in new posts defends himself after being called out for alleged hypocrisy during his faceoff with Peter Okoye. He wrote:
“Yes I thanked Asiwaju for removing Jonathan who I despised with a passion. So what! Is that the same as Performing for them like a monkey?
