Re: AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman Wins Re-Election as Kwara Gov.
Adesanya-Davies Congratulates AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman
“E gbe kini oun wa, awa lo kan!” —Bola Tinubu
Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman has won re-election as the governor of Kwara State for a second term in office. Abdulrazaq, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, emerged as the winner of the Saturday 18th March, 2023 governorship’s election.
Princess Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies (PMA), a frontline female Politician, a University Don, Linguist and Communication expert, the Presidential Candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in 2019 presidential election congratulates Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, while asking: “Why are the Christians always disadvantaged in Kwara state?” We all voted, we all won, but at the long run, Christians are always and remained disenfranchised in the state!
Historically, to-date and as observed from every research, it has been established that during presidential elections in Nigeria, the party and candidate of Kwara state choice, voted into presidential position by Kwarans from the the center, North central, at the middle belt always usually emerged and ended up winning the presidential election in the nation.
However, Princess Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies said, she has observed and come to a conclusion, that after such efforts in the state during elections, at both the state and national level during assigning of apportionments and positions, the Kwara state Christians are never remembered. Thus, the very useful and insightful question she asks in this dilemma is, “Why are the Kwara state Christians always disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Kwara state and Nigeria???
Christians in Kwara state are not only disadvantaged in their state in the area of politics, but they are also been short-changed when it comes to being appointed into political positions. Again, they are also forgotten even in being given other positions and jobs which are non-political but should be their entitlement as citizenry.
Although, Gov. AbdulRazaq Governorship has been fair to women in Kwara political positions remarkably in the past four years and we must commend him, however, the Christian community in Kwara is being continuously marginalized. Kwara state is about 50% Christians and 50% Muslims in statistics. So, why are the Christians being suppressed and treated as insignificant!
Therefore, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies calls for full involvement and empowerment of Christians first in Kwara state and secondly in Nigeria as AbdulRazaq and Ashiwaju Tinubu win 2023 Gubernatorial and Presidential elections.
I plead with Kwara state government, especially, Gov. Abdulrasaq to get the brains of the Christian working and involved in Kwara politics, governance and employment; especially now that the President-elect ASIWAJU Bola Tinubu has called for a government of Unity and Competence at the federal level.
In line, the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has rightly said the victory recorded in Saturday’s polls underscored the desire of the citizens to continue along the path of positive progress that Kwara has recorded over the past three years. The governor thus pledged, “He will do more for the people,” saying “I would consolidate on the gains of his first tenure.
“Let’s hope the Christian community would be involved and benefit this time around,” adds PMA.
In retrospect, Kwara state Nigeria, was formed on 27 May 1967 when the Northern region was split into Benue-Plateau, Kano, Kwara, West Central, North-Eastern and North-Western states.
Adesanya-Davies quotes, “The list of administrators and governors of Kwara state since then is as follows:
Name /Title/ Took office/ Left office/ Party/ Notes:

Adesanya-Davies affirms, “Although the first governor of Kwara state under the military rule from inception was a Christian; however, most of the governors that have since ruled in the state are majorly Muslims. This should not be entrenched to become a pattern and the Christians don’t have to be perpetually marginalized in the state, because Kwara State is a 50% Christian/Muslim state.
Adesanya-Davies thus calls for the inclusion of Christians at all levels in Kwara state without any form of marginalisation. And as Ashiwaju Tinubu has succinctly put it in such a situation, “Awa lo kan!” It should all be about the APC slogan- “Renewed Hope!”
