Governments of different countries have begun evacuation of citizens from Sudan. However, about 7000 evacuated nationals have been unable to cross Egyptian border since they landed on Thursday evening.
About 7000 nationals, including Nigerians, are now stranded at Egyptian border on their way from Sudan, according to the Nigerian Government. This was disclosed, on Friday, in Abuja, by the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a press release issued by Mr Gabriel Odu.
The NiDCOM boss said the people are now stranded, because the Egyptian authorities are insisting that Africans must have visas before they can be allowed to transit to their different destinations. She, therefore, appealed to the Egyptian authorities to kindly allow the travellers transit to their final destinations.
