Oyo State Government and the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, are recently setting another mark towards enhancement of education in Nigeria.
As a pacesetter state, Oyo State is habitually leading other states when it comes to implemention of good policies in all sectors of the economy.
The Polytechnic, Ibadan as one of the Chief institutions in the hierarchy of the Polytechnic in Nigeria, just established the Department of Photography where students would be taught the art and marketing in Photography.
The department of Photography is located at the middle-belt, opposite health centre, and falls under the Faculty of Social and Humanities.
The advancement of technology has positively changed the world, in which each individual has no excuse than to engaging in creative skill. Undoubtedly, creative skills like photography can only be found and professionally trained at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Studying photography will provides the students with expertise in sophisticated photography techniques, such as composition, manipulation, editing, processing, colouring and visual effects, as well as practical skills in relevant technologies.
Student will learn how to curate and exhibit their photography and develop the marketing skills needed to sell and promote it.
They will also learn about the key legal, ethical and cultural issues around taking, editing and selling photographic images.
A course like photography will allow students gain confidence in relationship building between the image maker and the client.
Photography deals with critical, analytical and practical problem solving. And also in risk taking and making use of failure
rigorous self-evaluation and critical reflection.
Management in photography comprises organising, planning and working independently.

Any three (3) from the following: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics or Further Mathematics.
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Photography;
You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from Geography, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Visual Art, Economics or Biology/Agricultural Science.
The Polytechnic, Ibadan becomes third institution to establish this department
